I was trying the artsy and inspired
by how horrific this week was idea.
As I sat to begin some “art” I didn’t
realize the sharpened colored pencils
were right beside me…

You know, for a “smart girl,” I really wonder…

…my hand moved to quickly and I felt
a piercing pain on my right ring finger.
I looked down and there’s blood pouring
out of my finger and as I sat there puzzled
I realized I’d been accidentally stabbed
by Roseart Sunshine Yellow.

I can’t begin to describe the pain.
The little ones always hurt the worst.
(Ironic, no?)

Needless to say, I jumped out of bed,
blood dripping down my hand, washed
the cut (obscenely large for its origin),
and wrapped it in a Barbie bandaid.

I walked back to my room laughing
at the stupidity of the event,
which marks my first official day
as a Christmas break bum…

Unless you count the New York Times
crossword puzzle, but that’s just norm.

So I gave the art and settled for my
usual therapy: a Venti Quad Shot
Dolce Cinnamon Skinny Latte.

Quite frankly, as much as it hurts,
it’s great to know that I finally have time.
Even if it’s just to get stabbed.

It’s lovely. I love the holidays.
